Tin ceiling tiles were all the rage in the 19th century. Tin ceilings were beautiful, with intricately cut designs in them. There were hundreds of beautiful designs. Most modern-era homes don’t come with tin ceiling tiles, unless the homeowner is trying to reproduce the design of the 19th century. Adding tin ceiling tiles to an existing 19th century home adds charm and authenticity. They give the home a warm feeling. A person’s eyes tend to go up to the ceiling when entering a room with a tin ceiling. This makes the room look larger.

Even a modern-day home can be finished with tin ceiling tiles. There’s no reason not to use them. They add class to any type of home, but would not look right in a modern home. Any type of farm house would do well with tin ceiling tiles, as would a center hall colonial home. Of course, a home made in the 19th century would look fabulous with tin ceilings in any room.
